Helping To Conserve Coral Reefs in the Phillipines
Aquanauts are pleased to announce the partnership with Durham University Coral Awareness and Research Expedition 2008.
As well as being involved with Project AWARE this year we are also sponsoring 4 team members of DUCARE 2008 through their Openwater Course which will help them assess the damage to Coral Reefs, monitor previous projects, establish exclusion zones and sanctuaries and also raise local awareness of the Marine environment.
This worthwhile expedition is funded by predominantly through fund raising and also by sponsorship from companies. If you would like to contribute to and read more about this years expedition then click on the link below.
http://www.dur.ac.uk/expedition.society/ducare.htm
The 4 sponsored students have now successfully completed their Openwater training and are now eagerly anticipating their trip to the Phillipines next week. We would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication they have put into the Openwater course and are looking forward to hearing what they have been upto in the coming weeks.

Eyemouth Trip 3rd-5th October
We are planning a trip to Eyemouth on the 3rd-5th October. There will be courses being run which include Night Diver, Deep Diver and also Advanced Openwater.
This is an ideal opportunity for you to get your courses done in the fantastic voluntary marine reserve of Eyemouth, or alternatively if you just want to come and dive for pleasure then you can come along and join us.
Help show your support for
Project AWARE
Aquanauts Dive Centre is committed to supporting Project AWARE and as part of our commitment we are looking to raise funds by collecting old printer cartridges so that they can be recycled.
By doing this we are reducing our ecological impact on the environment above ground and also any funds raised from the recycling of the printer cartridges can be ploughed back into making our marine environment a healthier and better place, by creating more marine reserves and educating local people on how to develop more ecologically friendly and sustainable fishing practises, as well as looking after and promoting the marine environment. By doing this it has been proven to increase ECO-tourism because a dive that has a healthy variety of marine species is always more memorable and enjoyable than one where there is nothing to see.
So if you are thinking about binning an old printer cartridge then don't. Instead why not pop down to Aquanauts Dive centre to drop it off and have it recycled and do your bit to help make the seas a healthier and more interesting place to dive. |

Every Monday evening its all about the fun. So why not take advantage of doing some fantastic shore dives that are on our door step and come along and join us.
We will be meeting at 18:30 at the dive centre and heading off to one of the sites. This is a strictly pleasure dive night and no training will be carried out, so if you are new to UK diving or have a bit of experience and just want to get out and dive then let us know. |
